Unallocated CGS’s quota: MoP allocates over 870 MW winter power for J&K, Ladakh | KNO

Srinagar, Oct 07 (KNO): With the onset of winters, Ministry of Power (MoP) has allocated over 870 Megawatts (MWs) of power for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh from the from unallocated quota of Central Generating Stations (CGSs) of northern region. The official documents reveal that the MoP has ordered the concerned authorities to execute the share of 44 percent (877.42 MWs) un-allocated quota of CGS’s to Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh with effect from October-01. The news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) has learnt that the MoP in the allocation percentage for winter months for the year 2025-26 has said that of the total un-allocated quota of CGSs of northern region, Jammu and Kashmir is receiving 44 percent for the month of October-2025, 49 percent for November-2025, 54 percent till December-2025 to February-2026 and 44 percent for the month of March-2026 respectively. “Central Electricity has revised allocation of power from un-allocated quota of CGSs of northern region keeping in view the change in the requirement of power of northern states with the onset of winter season and requested NRPC to implement the allocation, after accounting for specific allocations with effect from 01.10.2025,” MoP said. In addition, the MoP said that Jammu and Kashmir is receiving a specific allocation of 41 MW from RAPS-C and 36 MW (unallocated share of 15 percent from Uri – II) to J&K for winter months every year respectively. Stating the bifurcation of remaining un-Allocated Pool of 1790.66 MW excluding RAPP-B, the MoP has said that Jammu and Kashmir is receiving 1056.49 MWs with effect from December-01 till 28-02-2026 or modified otherwise—(KNO)
